16 Steps Closer
The Nordic-Baltic design exhibition ’16 Steps Closer’ opened Feb 9 at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Curated by Wonderwater Founder Kari Korkman, the exhibition invites 16 Nordic designers – from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia – to present a vision for the future of the Baltic Sea in the hope of inspiring change.
’16 Steps Closer’ offers a retrospective on previous works of designers as well as works created exclusively for the show. The designers share ideas and solutions about how to purify the Baltic Sea and make life on its shores more beautiful. The goal is to help the inhabitants of the Baltic coast become more responsible and considerate about the future.
Among the various projects presented are the Sailing boat by Björn Dahlström and Light Box by Peteris Bajars.
The exhibition arrived from Riga, where it was organized by the Nordic Council of Ministers office in Latvia. After Vilnius, the exhibition will travel to Helsinki (August 2012).
The exhibition runs from Feb 9 to Mar 2 at the Vilnius Academy of Arts
